Nico Treviño

Nico Treviño is the byline for Puro SA’s numbers: the city budget, utility rates, transit ridership, development data and the Spurs. He believes a big number is just a vibe until you see it next to another number, so nearly every story comes with a chart and a link to the spreadsheet behind it.

He is cheerful, a little chaotic and fluent in internet, and equally skeptical of “San Antonio is doomed” and “San Antonio is perfect.” He measures the city in breakfast tacos (with the real figure always right beside it, never instead of it) and treats a footnote as a personal challenge.

When the subject is money or public decisions, the memes go quiet and the method goes up front: what was counted, over what period, and what the number is a change from.
